Taking Action!

There’s some big challenges ahead of us and we are always super keen to have new campaigners. If this is something you are interested in, you can email us at glasgowcallsoutpolluters@gmail.com or just pop us a message on Facebook or Twitter

But if you don’t have the capacity to campaign with us, there are other ways in which you can support us – and our sister campaign, Divest Strathclyde – below.

No Polluters at COP26!

Just as we would not have tobacco companies in global health talks, we should not have big polluters determining our response to the crisis they have created, and continue to profit from.

We call on the UK Government to reject the presence of Big Polluters such as BP at the upcoming UN climate talks.

Divest the Strathclyde Pension Fund

Climate change is the greatest threat to our shared home. But the Strathclyde Pension Fund in Glasgow is still investing £700m in fossil fuel companies, driving climate breakdown.

Many of these companies are also fracking, a practice effectively banned in Scotland. Their choice to continue to back fossil fuels is gambling away our future.

The Strathclyde fund is run by Glasgow City Council and is the UK’s largest local council pension fund. By divesting from fossil fuels – as Southwark Council, Glasgow University and the City of New York already have – it would send a powerful message and help kick-start Scotland’s green economy.

Elected councillors have the power to make this happen, but they need to speak up. They need to know that you care about people affected by climate change and you want them to act to stop these investments.
