EVENT: Divest to Reinvest for real climate solutions in Glasgow, 4 Oct 2020

Glasgow City Council declared a Climate Emergency in May 2019. They formed a Climate Emergency Working Group to come up with what needs to be done in Glasgow to tackle this crisis which threatens all our lives. On Tuesday the 6th October the Environment, Sustainability and Carbon Reduction Committee of Glasgow City Council will present an implementation plan which outlines how the Council intends to meet the revised carbon neutrality target (2030), including setting and monitoring progress against interim targets, and responding to the Climate Emergency Working Group’s 61 recommendations (as agreed at the City Administration Committee 26 September 2019).

We want to make sure that REAL ACTION is  taken on these recommendations including divesting from the £700m that the Strathclyde Pension Fund invest in fossil fuels and fracking – the root causes of the climate crisis. We need to reinvest in climate solutions instead.
